Towards the end of 2016, Tubi was about to make its first steps outside Israel. We had the feeling it would be the perfect time to honor the city of Tel Aviv. We wanted to make a tribute to the local cultural scene Tubi 60 is so deeply embedded in. It was about giving back and thanking our fans for the great support we have been receiving all the way through.
Eventually, we decided to launch a Tubi 60 art exhibition. The idea was to provide local artists the opportunity to present and sell their works in a top-notch exhibition for free, with all income going to the participating artists.
We teamed up with the wonderful Korin Abisdris as curator and began juggling with concepts. We sent Tubi 60 bottles to more than 30 talented artists – both leading and emerging, and each did their magic on the bottles.
The opening and closing events were festive celebrations complete with an open Tubi bar serving everybody the most delicious Tubi cocktails and a killer DJ. The exhibition was such a success that we got many requests from artists wanting to present their works in the next Tubi 60 exhibition.
Following the success of the first exhibition in November 2016 and the positive feedback we got, we decided do Tubi art exhibitions twice a year, a Spring exhibition and an Autumn exhibition.
Planning for the Tubi 60 Autumn 2017 Exhibition is already in progress. We will keep you updated.
This being the second Tubi 60 art exhibition, we invited 40 local artists – painters, sculptors, graphic, and fashion designers to present art works that are abstract, colorful and diverse.
Korin Abisdris carefully chose the individual art works from the many we were sent and designed the space to project the essence every piece of art.
We also invited the talented mixologists from “SixOclock” to formulate and prepare Tubi cocktails and show off their mixing skills.
For this first exhibition, we handed out 30 bottles of Tubi 60 for various artist and directed them have a freestyle go at designing, painting, and sculpting the Tubi bottles.
